Thank you for visiting the official website of the Santa Ana Police Department [Station 31] Hogs Running Team. The Hogs have represented the Santa Ana Police Department at the Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay since 1986. The next Challenge Cup Relay will take place April 21-22, 2012 and the host hotel is the Las Vegas Hilton.

BAKER TO VEGAS RELAY
The race covers 120 grueling miles, which is broken down into 20 stages through the desert and mountains between the cities of Baker, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. Teams start on Saturday afternoon, run throughout the night and finish on Sunday morning. Collective team finishing times can range from 13-20 hours. A BRIEF HOGS HISTORY
In 1983 and 1984, the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club hosted a foot race across the desert and invited the Santa Ana Police Department to participate as an invited guest. In those early days SAPD was among only 40 teams to participate. This race would later evolve into the Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay and in 2011, 260 teams would participate from across North America, Australia

The running teams would not be as successful without generosity of our loyal sponsors and a dedicated all volunteer support crew which consists of follow-van drivers, timers, stage captains, stage catchers, transport personnel and a sworn volunteer to assist the race director.
