VOLUNTEERS
SUPPORT CREW POSITIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The running teams would not be as successful without generosity of our loyal sponsors and a dedicated all volunteer support crew which consists of follow-van drivers, timers, stage captains, stage catchers, transport personnel and a sworn volunteer to assist the race director. They are truly the unsung heroes behind the success of the Santa Ana Police Running Team. Below is a brief description of what our wonderful volunteers do for us.

DRIVERS
Drivers will drive the follow vehicles. Follow vehicles pursue the runners so that their health, safety and progress is always monitored. The follow vehicle also contains the assigned alternate runner.
TIME KEEPERS
Timekeepers ride in the follow vehicle and monitor individual runner times. They further assist the runner by providing split times as requested and offer words of encouragement to the runner during his/her leg.
SHUTTLES & RV
Shuttle drivers transport runners and support personnel to their assigned location along the race route and assist in making sure no one is left behind. RV's can set up at a location determined by the team captain to monitor race progress and allow team members to rest in between their assigned legs.
CATCHERS
Catcher duties consist of working one or more legs and "catching" the runner who is finishing their run. Making sure the runner is safe and assisting them after their run is over.
STAGE CAPTAINS
Stage Captains represent the team captain at each stage, coordinates with race officials and supervises catchers and transport personnel.
